The families of Malissa Williams and Timothy Russell were paid a combined $3 million after the two were fatally shot by officers. In the latest case, Shirley Brown, Rodneys mother, filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in 2011 against the city of Cleveland and the police officers involved in the arrest, alleging excessive force, assault and battery and wrongful death. She also said that the officers did not have probable cause to stop Browns vehicle.
